HEALTH & SAFETY CODE OF PRACTICE

*We will only paint persons who are 2 1/2 years and over, this is due to insurance restrictions. We Love Face Painting! carries its own $2 million Public Liability Insurance, it does not at any time cover customers, hirers or other organisations at an event. We have also been Police Checked (see attached).

*We only use safe professional paints that are child friendly – primarily Kryolan, European Cosmetics Compliant and poly glitters that are safe for cosmetic use. All of our paints are water based and they have anti-bacterial/hypoallergenic properties which are specifically designed for use on the face.

*For sanitary reasons, we reserve the right to refuse to paint any person(s) we feel should not be painted, such as those who are sick with colds, cold sores, conjunctivitis, or open wounds. We will not paint anyone who has an apparent skin complaint eg: Impetigo, Eczema, Chicken Pox, Cuts, and Bruises. We also reserve the right not to paint what we consider to be offensive symbols or subjects.

*It is essential for parents/guardians/adults to inform us if a person has sensitive skin before we paint them. We are able to carry out a small skin test on the inside of the arm and this procedure will usually take about 20 minutes to determine whether a reaction occurs. If there is no reaction, then we will paint the person. It is the responsibility of parents/guardians/adults to inform us of anything that may mean that a person cannot be painted. We may be able to offer an alternative such as hand or arm painting/temporary tattoo. We will not be held liable/responsible for any person who may react to our paints/equipment at any time.

*To protect the hygiene of all concerned, we ask that we are presented with a clean face/area to paint, thus enabling us to check that it is safe to proceed with painting. Baby wipes are available to be used by parents/guardians, however, We Love Face Painting! will not accept liability/responsibility for any adverse reactions caused.

*Brushes are rinsed, the water changed and a clean sponge used.

*All sponges are washed at high temperatures in the washing machine before re-using them. Anyone with an allergy should check brand usage first as We Love Face Painting! will not accept liability/responsibility for any adverse reactions caused.

*It is sometimes necessary for us to assist small children when getting up into our chair, the more capable ones will be able to climb in themselves with the option of a steadying hand.

*Parents/Guardians are responsible for their own children and are expected to stay with them at all times. We Love Face Painting! are not child minders and therefore, will not accept liability/ responsibility for anything that happens to a child in or out of our painting area.

*We will maintain a professional attitude at all times and be sensitive to each person’s needs.

*We will always try to maintain a hazard free and safe area in which to work. EG: Gazebo guy-ropes, tent pegs, table, chairs, etc.

*We insist that our products are not touched by the public at any time to ensure that our Health and Safety standards are maintained.

*To remove face paints simply use soap and water. Going to bed without removing make-up is not advised. Depending on the brand, some colours may leave a tinge to the skin, these may include red, green, blue and yellow. Please do not worry, it will fade quickly.

*Some brands/colours may stain clothes if you do not presoak before washing. Whilst every effort will be made to protect clothing we do not accept liability/ responsibility for any damage caused to a person or their property at any time.
